First Walk

Ever since Ashlyn has been born I have been dying to take her on a walk. Well, being that she is a winter baby it just has not been warm enough for a walk. Well, today it was 60 degrees so Joey and I decided it was time to venture out. We went on a 20 minute walk around the neighborhood. I would say Ashlyn enjoyed it because she fell asleep right away and slept the entire time. She loves movement! I can't wait to go on more walks as the weather gets nicer in the coming months.

All bundled up ready to go!

Funny Faces

For some reason every time I try to get a picture lately Ashlyn makes the funniest faces! I just thought I would share with everyone her goofiness!

Growing Up

Ashlyn is getting stronger everyday. This weekend we put her in her bumbo seat for the first time. She seems to like it so far. Her head control is still a little weak so she kind of bobs her head when she sits in it. It is really cute!

She was unsure at first if she liked it or not.

She was smiling for her Daddy. She is such a Daddy's girl! She gives him the biggest and best smiles!

She was having a great time sitting in her chair and having her Mom read to her.

Some Good News and Some New Pictures

As many of you know Joey has been looking for a job for about eight months now. He has applied to hundreds of jobs, but the market is just awful here! We found out today that he has been offered a job at T Rowe Price!! We are very excited. The benefits are supposed to be wonderful and there is TONS of room for advancement. I am also going to start substitute teaching in the next week or two. It is nice because Joey will train for 6 weeks working 8-5. After the six weeks he will work 11-8 p.m. or 12-9 p.m. This will work out really well because I can go sub while he watches Ashlyn and then my Mom or sister will watch her for a few hours and then I will pick her up around three. We are so happy and feel that our prayers have finally been answered! I will be applying for a full time teaching position for new fall soon. I hope that I am able to find something that I like.

She was very interested at what her Mom was doing.

She is such a big girl. She can now hold her own pacifier!

Bath Time

Ashlyn loves bathtime so much! We fill up the tub and Joey holds her head and she just floats. She loves to kick too! She should be swimming in no time!

Smiles

Here are a few smile pictures. As I mentioned earlier, if I pull out the camera she stops smiling. So at this point smile pictures are quite rare! As soon as I get some really good smile pictures I will post them.

This one is not her smiling, but it is Ashlyn with her Uncle Adam and I thought it was too cute!

Two Months

Ashlyn is already two months old!!!! I can not believe how fast time flies!! We went to the doctor yesterday for her two month check-up. Ashlyn had gained two pounds and two inches in a month! She now weighs ten and a half pounds and is 23 inches. She is still in the 50 percentile for both height and weight. She is growing just perfectly! The doctor said she looks great. She had to get four shots :( It was very hard for me to watch! She screamed so loud! Luckily is was over fast and I held her and loved her. She conked out in her car seat right after the shots were over, so I am assuming it was not too traumatic!
At two months Ashlyn is now sleeping about 4-5 hours at a time. The doctor said it should be longer, but at this point I will take it. We are working on some longer stretches. She loves to smile and smiles all of the time. (I will post some smile pictures. Every time we get out the camera she stops smiling!). She has even laughed a few times. She loves to "talk". She talks the most to my Mom- she just loves her Gram so much! She continues to do tummy time and gets stronger everyday. She is becoming more and more interested in her toys every day. She still loves her swing and watching the animals at the top go round and round. She also LOVES looking at ceiling fans. Her colic has gotten so much better! She still has fussy times but they are much fewer and farther between. She is our sweet little angel and Joey and I are enjoying every minute of her and love watching all the new things she continues to do!

Our Trip

We are safely back from our trip to Phoenix. What a wonderful trip it was! We left early Saturday morning. It is about a thirteen hour drive to Phoenix from here. Ashlyn did really well in the car. She mostly slept. She did get a little fussy at times, but we would pull over and I would feed her and she was as good as new. We did not arrive in Phoenix until 9:30 on Saturday night. My brother, Ashlyn, and I went over to Jacob and Mayas after we arrived. Jacob and Maya got to meet Ashlyn and she was a very good girl the entire time we were there. I think she was just so happy to be out of her car seat and being held by her Mom!

On Sunday morning we met my Grandmother for breakfast. Ashlyn was so excited to me another Great Grandma. My Grandma really enjoyed meeting her and getting to hold her for the first time. We did some shopping after lunch. That night we went to dinner with Jacob and Maya, Jessi, Jeremy, Kelsey, and Vanessa. We went over to Jacob and Maya's to play games. We played a fun game that was girls versus guys. The girls won both times!

On Monday we waited around for Katy and Mark's plane to arrive. Katy and Mark arrived safely but unfortunately Katy's bag did not. Katy had to run to the mall to get something to wear to the wedding. She luckily found something. We went to the wedding at 5 o'clock. The wedding was beautiful. It was by a lake right as the sun was starting to set. The ceremony was short but so sweet. It was one of those ceremonies were you could really feel the love between the bride and groom. We headed back to Maya's parents for the reception. The reception was wonderful! The food was great and lots of great people there! Ashlyn slept through the entire thing! I was very afraid she would start crying during the ceremony but she slept. We got to the reception she woke up once to eat and the rest of the time she slept like a little angel!

The rest of the trip was spent eating, shopping, and spending time with my Grandma. We went on a hour and a half tour at Taliesin West (Frank Loyd Wright's school). It was really neat. I was pretty apprehensive about taking Ashlyn on such a long tour. Again, she totally amazed me and slept the entire time! I think a lot of the people were surprised by how good she was. I am glad because it was not the kind of tour that a crying baby would have been welcomed on. She was the only child on the tour. By Thursday, Ashlyn was getting a little vacationed out. I think she missed her Dad and home. I also think she was sick of going to restaurants. We left early Friday morning. She was great on the ride back. Slept almost the entire time. We got home at about five thirty. I thought for sure it was going to be a long night since she slept so much in the car that day. Ashlyn fell asleep at eight thirty or so and did not wake up to eat until two! That is pretty impressive for her!

All in all the trip was wonderful! It was so nice getting to see my Grandma and Ashlyn getting to meet her. It was also wonderful to see Jacob and Maya and witness their wedding. We had a great time and I can't wait to go back again soon!
