Cabin and Fish Hatchery

For some reason, it seems like this year we have been making a lot more stops in Buena Vista and Salida when we are at the cabin.  We didn't get to do our week long trip at the cabin this summer since I was in school too long.  I guess we are making up for missing out on our day trips to Buena Vista and Salida. On our recent trip to the cabin,  we stopped in Buena Vista on the way up.  We had to stop and get ice cream from our favorite ice cream place: Louie's.

After some ice cream, we stopped by the park . Emmy had a great time doing some swinging.

On the way to the cabin, we always drive by a sign for the fish hatchery.  We have never stopped.  Joey's dad went this summer and said it is really cool.  We finally decided to make a stop.  I had to sit in the car with Emmy because she was napping, but Joey took the kids in.  It is free and everyone gets a bucket of food to feed the trout.  There are so many fish and they jump to the food.  It is a really neat experience and they all really liked it.  I think we will be stopping more often to feed the fish.

You can see the fish coming to the service in this picture

After feeding some fish, we finally made it up to the cabin for some much needed rest and relaxation.  Just what the doctor ordered!

My new favorite place to run.  I had forgotten how hard it is to run at that elevation!  I just try to take in the beautiful scenery and remind myself the entire time that it is making me stronger.

The next evening, we decided to make a trip to Salida with my dad.  There is also a fish hatchery down there, and I wanted to check it out since I had missed the one the day before.  It was so much fun and I loved getting to see the fish.  What fun!

Look at all those fish!

After feeding the fish, we went to our favorite pizza place in Salida.  We love the pizza and it is always really good food.  Gracie wanted to take a picture of Joey and Ashlyn and this is what we got.

More Summer Fun

This summer has been epic and we have crammed so much fun into it!  It is very quickly coming to an end, but while we are very sad it is over, we have all had such a good summer.  This post is full of a bunch of random pictures from our phones chronicling all the fun we have been having.

The kids going down the slide

We are so lucky to have a pool at our community center.  The kids love swimming there and we often can walk down there.   We have spent as much time as possible at the pool.  It is always a good time.  We recently started taking Emmy in as well and she loves the water like her siblings.  We will sure miss our pool this winter!

One day while I was in school, Joey took the kids mini golfing.  They enjoyed it and he said they seemed to get the hang of it this time.

Gracie loves going to the park by our house.  At night, we often walk to get the mail and take her to play for a few minutes.

Summer is the best because you can eat outside!

What a quintessential summer picture: pool and popsicles!

One day we decided to go on a new adventure.  There some really neat musical swings on exhibit nearby.  When you swing they play different musical notes.  We drove up so the kids could check them out.  They were so much fun and the kids loved getting to swing.

The water should be blue, but there was a recent flood that muddied it up.

One night, Joey took the boys to go play laser tag because they had been extra good that day.  He ended there time with an ice cream treat.  I guess it pays to behave!
Best buds in the whole world!

Joey's cousin owns a local brewery here that we like to visit from time to time.  Every year he has a  Harry Potter birthday celebration.  We have never been able to attend before, but this year we were actually in town.  We brought Emmy with us.  I had to get her a special Harry Potter onesie.  She is the world's cutest muggle!

More pool time:

Dawson went to his best friend, Ethan's birthday party at a local trampoline place.  They have a ninja warrior area.  There is a part where they can use a rope to climb up a ramp.  Last time he was there he couldn't do it. This time he was very determined to make it to the top.  He told Joey he lifted the weights that morning to be really strong. It must have worked because he did it!  Joey said he did it several times. What a strong boy and what determination!

Crazy Gracie

Gracie has started to sleep with a "sleep mask" on at night.  It makes me laugh so hard because that is not an actual sleep mask, but a part of an Ariel doll's costume.  She insists on having it before she will sleep.
My brother recently invited Joey to go to a Rockies game.  They got to sit in a club suite during the game.  When they got there, someone informed them that John Elway was in the suite next door.  They were beyond excited.  As life long Broncos fans, who is bigger then John Elway?  They cornered him in the hallway and they were able to meet him and get a picture with him.  They said he was really nice.  I am so happy for them that they got to meet such a legend!

Looks like they had some good seats for the game
This past week, Joey also got to go to training camp with my brother and sister.  They are all such big fans and they had a great time.  I don't really follow football, but they got to sit in a VIP tent and met the new quarterback.
