Dawson turned two weeks old today. I can't believe he is already two weeks old! On one hand it seems like time has flown by, and on the other hand it just seems like he has been part of our lives forever. Dawson is doing well. His jaundice levels were high. We had to go back two more times to get his blood drawn. This was quite the feat considering the week he was born it was like -16 degrees out! We managed to get him to his blood draws and doctor's appointments. His levels were high, but they weren't quite high enough to require him to have any light therapy. We were so happy about that. He still looks a little yellow, but he is doing much better.
Dawson is already growing like a champ. When he was born he weighed 7lbs 7 oz. We took him to the doctor when he was 4 days old and he weighed 7 lbs 4oz. He had another doctor's appointment this week and he weighed 7 lbs 12 oz. The doctor was pleased with his weight gain. We will go back to the doctor when he is a month old and we will see how much he has grown then.
Dawson is mostly doing the typical newborn thing. Lots of sleeping and eating. He certainly lets you know when he is hungry or needs to be changed. He is a very vocal little boy. He is a good baby though. He just loves to be cuddled and doesn't like it when I have to put him down. He is definitely the most content when being held and cuddled. I can never get enough of his sweet cuddling because I know before long he will be on the go! Our nights are still very sleepless. I'm still trying to cope with the sleep loss. I don't think one can ever prepare or get used to the lack of sleep that comes with a newborn. Every second is worth it to finally have him here.
Ashlyn is still adjusting a bit to being a big sister. My biggest struggle is trying to attend to Dawson's needs while still giving Ashlyn lots of quality time. Since I haven't been working since December, Ashlyn got very accustomed to lots of one on one time. It has been a major adjustment for both of us to not get our time together. I am going to continue working on that one. In the next week or so she will be going to morning preschool two days a week. I think getting out and around other kids will be good for her. Ashlyn has regressed a bit, but I know that is to be expected. We have also seen a few more temper tantrums, but she is still adjusting just like us.
Last week, Ashlyn got to go to Disneyland! My parents and I decided it would be a great time for Ashlyn to have a vacation with just the three of them. She was so excited about her trip it wasn't even funny. She talked about it for a month straight! She had a wonderful time. She got to meet all of her favorite princesses. My parents said she was at the perfect age to go to Disneyland. I am so glad that she got some quality time with her grandparents and some major spoiling. I will put up some pictures from her trip in the coming days.
Today we went and had pictures taken of the kids. I wanted to have them done while Dawson was still a tiny guy. They turned out great. I posted the ones we liked best below. I hope to post once a week for the first few weeks. Let's see how successful I am at that one!
