Our last trip to the cabin in August was a great one! Graceyn and Joey stayed back at home so Joey could attend a wedding. We decided to divide up the kids. I went up to the cabin with Dawson and Ashlyn. As usual, we had such a fun time. It always amazes me that it seems we find something new to do every time we are up there.
This particular weekend the weather was beautiful, so we decided to go on a long ride with the kids. We went up a local trial called Tin Cup. It's a very old trail that I believe was once used by miners. We stopped along the way to take in some sights. The river is always such a nice stopping place. The kids never grow tired of throwing rocks in the river.
We also stopped to check out a new hiking trail. It was a really neat trail and very shaded and private. The kids loved exploring a new area and they did not whine once that they were tired. We went up the trail a bit, but then we decided we better turn around since we really hadn't planned for a hike. We all decided that we are definitely going to have to go back next summer and hike all the way to the top.
After the hike, we went up to the top of Tin Cup which is at the Continental Divide. On our way back, my dad who has such a keen eye, spotted something in the woods. We all got out and discovered it was two moose and two baby moose. What a sight! Moose are very aggressive animals, so we all immediately jumped back in the prowlers as soon as the moose spotted us. Wild life like that is best when viewed from afar!!! It was a little scary, because the spot that we saw them was the same exact spot where we had stopped earlier to explore the river. Luckily, they never made an appearance then.
After our long ride, the boys needed a rest and the girls begged to go down to the river. It was warm and a perfect day for it. It is so beautiful and serene that my sister and I are always very happy to take the girls down to the river. They girls played for a long time.
What a fun weekend we had full of exploring and spending time in the beautiful mountains. We are so blessed!

This bridge is the start of the trail. We were intrigued by this fairly new bridge, so we had to see where it went. |

There is so clay like mud in the river, so my sister and I decided to see if we could use it for foot masks. |

It actually worked pretty well and felt really good. |
