Sledding in Leadville

A few weekends ago, we went on a fun adventure on Sunday.  Ashlyn had her friend Lucy spend the night the previous night, so she got to come along with us.  We woke up bright and early to head to Leadville for some sledding fun.
We stopped first at the Donut Mill in Woodland Park for some donuts for breakfast.  The kids all devoured their donuts.

Dawson picked a donut as big as him

The sledding hill is all the way in Leadville.  It was quite a drive just to go sledding, but it was well worth it.  It has hardly snowed at all this winter, so the kids have not had a chance to play in the snow.  When we got to Leadville it was a winter wonderland.  The kids were so happy to put their snow gear on and have some fun in the snow.  The weather was perfect and we were not cold at all.

Look at all that snow!

Such a scenic place

The only downside to this particular sledding spot is that you have to pull your sled up yourself.  We definitely got in a great workout that day!

Lucy and Ashlyn had a blast sledding together.  One time they didn't stop in time, and ended up going into the stream.  They thought it was the coolest thing ever.

Gracie is quite the snow bunny

Always silly with that one

Love her smile so much

After sledding, we were very hungry.  We drove to Buena Vista to meet Joey's Dad for lunch at the restaurant.  Lucy was very intrigued by the restaurant kitchen.  She asked if she could go tour it.  They even put them to work and made them wash dishes.  Ashlyn and Lucy thought that was the coolest thing ever.
