Stopping in Amarillo for a lunch break |
For spring break this year, we decide to head to Texas. We love Texas and love any chance we can get to see the DeLormes. We decided to spend a few days in Dallas before we made our way down to Tyler for the rest of the week. I was a little worried about how Emmy would do in the car for that long, but she actually did pretty well. We didn't get to our hotel until late Sunday night. We checked in, unpacked a bit, and then all fell asleep.
Our first day in Dallas, we went to a nearby mall and went to Lego World. We had never been to any of the Lego places and it was pretty neat. The kids found all sorts of fun stuff to build and play with. They even had a few rides to ride.
The kids played for several hours before they decided that they were ready for some lunch. We took the kids to Chick Fil A because we knew that they would eat that. I looked up BBQ places, and found once nearby that got really good reviews. The food was incredible and it was definitely a good pick!

Once we were done, we headed back to the hotel. The kids were just dying to go swimming. So, they swam for a bit. We ended up staying the night in at the hotel. I think that we ordered pizza and the kids enjoyed a night of relaxing after such a busy day.
The next morning, I woke up not feeling very good at all. Unfortunately, this was the beginning of what would be an awful, awful sickness that lasted the entire trip for me. (More to come about that later in the post). We all showered and checked out of the hotel. We decided to head to downtown Dallas. We stopped at a Shake Shack for lunch. The kids loved the burgers there and it was a good choice.
After lunch, we headed to the Perot Museum of Nature and Science. Since we are members of the Nature and Science Museum in Denver, we got in for free. It was pretty crowded by the time we got there. It was such a neat museum. It was HUGE and definitely somewhere you could spend a lot of time at. Unfortunately, Gracie got really tired and really cranky. She was being pretty difficult, so we weren't able to stay very long. It is is somewhere I definitely want to go back to.
After we left the museum, we made our way down to Tyler. The kids were so excited to see their cousins Owen and Blaine.
We spent one day at the Children's Museum in Tyler. We just love that place and the kids always have such a fun time there.
The rest of the week was spent relaxing and spending as much time as possible with the DeLormes. The kids had so much fun playing with Owen and Blaine.
Like I mentioned earlier, starting on our second day in Dallas, I was really sick. It involved a lot of stomach issues. I am convinced it was a really bad case of food poisoning since no one else ended up getting it thankfully. It was the sickest I had been in years and years. It was so miserable being on vacation and feeling so awful. I was not able to eat any of the good food down there. One night, I took a turn for the worse and decided I needed to go to the hospital because I knew I was severely dehydrated. The hospital was amazing and there was no one waiting and they got me right in. They pumped me full of fluids and gave me anti-nausea meds which allowed me to function and at least get out of bed for the rest of our trip. I hope to never be that sick again on vacation.
On our last night in Texas, I was finally feeling good enough to do something. We headed to a new indoor arcade/fun place. The kids had a great time playing all sorts of video games. I even played laser tag for the first time with them.
Here are some more pictures of the fun we had in Texas. We can't wait to go back!
