October Random

Here is the randomness from October.

Joey was so excited to finally get this shirt

One weekend we took a trip up to Scheel's  It is the coolest store ever and we can't wait for the one to open in the Springs.

One day Joey took Emmy to get a pizza for lunch.  She loves pizza and devoured it!

Emmy and her Moana costume.  She even insisted on sleeping in it!

She looks so cute!

Halloween 2020

With this pandemic, the kids were so nervous that they were not going to be able to go Trick or Treating this year.  I know that a lot of families chose to stay home and not participate this year.  As a family, we decided that we were willing to take the risk because our kids NEEDED trick or treating.  It was just a tradition we weren't willing to give up!  The kids were still able to have parties at school and wear their costumes.

We were all so excited that Halloween was finally on a Saturday!  We got to celebrate all day long.  I made a special lunch for the kids.  I did pumpkin shaped quesadillas and pumpkin oranges.  The kids all got a kick out of it.

My attempt at pumpkin quesadillas

The cute oranges

Even though it was Halloween, Gracie had her final soccer game of the fall season.  We got lucky with really nice weather and Grace played great as usual!  We were all a little sad for soccer to be over, but we hope that they will get to play in the spring.

The soccer game didn't get over until 4:30. When we got home, we had to quickly get ready for trick or treating.  Ashlyn being an almost teenager, decided to go trick or treating with her friends.  It made my mom heart a little sad to not have her with us, but she did stop by our house later to get candy.

Ashlyn decided to go as a character from Harry Potter.  I thought she was done with Harry Potter, but all of a sudden she really likes it again.

Before we headed out to go trick or treating we had our yearly tradition of pumpkin shaped pizza.  It's always the perfect dinner before we head out.  This year I also made a special sludge punch that the kids all loved.

Our pizza

After we ate, we put the finishing touches on our costumes.  Emmy is obsessed with Moana right now.  Juliana was nice enough to let Gracie use her costume.  Once she saw that costume, she refused to take it off!  She was so excited to go trick or treating as Moana.  She got a lot of practice with her costume!

Auntie got her special face stickers to wear

After we ate, we were ready to head out.  We met up with the Leone's and the Wong's to trick or treat.  We went out early because we knew once the sun went down it was going to get really cold.  It was actually really nice when we first headed out.  The neighborhood was absolutely crawling with kids!  I never get to go out for long because I always have to get Emmy back home.  This was the first year she understood what trick or treating is and she loved it!  We stayed out for a quite awhile.  Some neighbors a couple streets up made a haunted house in their garage and it was seriously like a professional haunted house.  Once it got dark and cold, I went home with Emmy and we passed out candy for a bit.  It got pretty cold, so the kids didn't stay out too late. When they got home, they did their yearly tradition of sorting candy and trading.  Even though the world looks really different right now, we still had a really good Halloween.
Juliana was the cutest cat ever!

Gracie was a princess riding a unicorn.  The costume kept deflating, so she ended up taking it off.  It was cute while it lasted.

Dawson and Collin.  I loved Dawson's costume.

Emmy only left the wig on for a few minutes.

Our neighbors came up with some really creative ways to pass out candy.  This house had candy on sticks in the yard.
