Easter 2011

Easter this year was a great one. I had such a great time watching the joy on Ashlyn's face as she enjoyed all that Easter has to offer. The kids had a great time partaking in all the festivities. Ashlyn felt that the Easter bunny was very good to her this year and he left her a ton of eggs which she had a blast looking for. She started upstairs and literally took off like a bolt of lightening to get eggs. She was running around tossing them into her bag. She laughed along the way at some of the funny places the Easter bunny left eggs.

Due to some unexpected family events, we ended up having Easter dinner at my sister's house cooked by my sister and I. Even though not everyone was there, we had a great time getting together with family and enjoying one another. Yet another holiday where I truly feel so thankful for the many, many ways that the Lord has blessed my family.

The Easter baskets. My mom bought the kids Easter baskets this year from Pottery Barn Kids with their names on them . I think they turned out just adorable and I love that we can use them every year now.

Ashlyn's basket was stuffed to the brim with Easter treats.

Dawson's basket didn't have as much, but as a baby he doesn't need much.

Ashlyn literally running down the stairs to get eggs.

He left a lot on the stairs.

That silly bunny even left some in her dollhouse.

Grabbing another egg

Dawson's entire nap schedule was thrown off that day. It made him a little fussy because he was tired. It seemed that every time we tried to get pictures was when he was fussy.

Still cute as can be even with a sad face. His shirt says "My First Easter"

Ella was much more cooperative. We bought Ashlyn and Ella matching dresses and they both looked so adorable in them.

Ashlyn loves kissing Ella.

All three cuties.

Pretty princess

Daddy always has a great time getting creative with the camera. I LOVE this one!

She loved her dress

Too sweet

I had planned on getting some really cute pictures of Dawson in his Easter basket, but that was not happening. I still think it's a funny picture.

Somebody was definitely ready for a nap!

12 Weeks Old

I will be posting a 3 month old post later this week when Dawson turns three months. I will also be posting lots of Easter pics. For now, here is the weekly dose of cuteness!

He looked too cute holding his monkey.

He loves his activity mat so much and has gotten really good at grabbing the toys.

I have started to watch Ella two days a week while my sister works. Ashlyn just loves having her cousin here. She is such a good helper. The other day she insisted on giving Ella her bottle and wouldn't let me help at all.

The adorable socks Aunt Jane got Dawson when we were down in Texas this fall. He has them in several colors and I just LOVE them.

Stretching , one of his favorite past times.

Serious Ashlyn

Happy Ashlyn

Silly Ashlyn

Joey is a big Johnny Cash fan. When I saw this onesie when I was pregnant, I just knew I had to get it. I am so excited he can finally wear it.

His hair was doing something funny.

Easter Egg Fun

As Ashlyn gets older she gets more into each holiday. She has been very excited for Easter this year. She was especially excited about dyeing Easter eggs. When she saw the box of egg dye I bought, she literally started jumping up and down. She was counting down the seconds until it was time to dye eggs. Last night, we covered the table with paper, got out the hard boiled eggs, and let her go to town on them. It was a messy activity with a 3 year old, but she had fun. That's the most important part to us. This year Dawson just watched, but next year he may be getting in on the action too.

Getting ready to dip the first egg

She was a pro immediately.

Look at her go!

She decided that her hands were the best tools for dipping.

I swear Ashlyn has some of the longest eyelashes I have ever seen on a child. I just noticed how well this picture shows them off.

She was having a great time.

Dawson had a great time watching.

She even got stickers to make funny faces on them.

What a funny face!
Dawson also played a bit while his sister was busy.
Showing off her eggs.
Look at all of those silly eggs!

Smart Kids

There were lots of exciting happenings around the DeLorme household this week. First, Dawson rolled over!!! I had him laying on his stomach for tummy time. He is not overly fond of tummy time, so he was fussing a bit. I turned around to pick up some of Ashlyn's dollhouse stuff, and when I turned back around he was on his back! It shocked me to say the least. I thought he would have rolled over from his back to his belly first since that's what Ashlyn did. He hasn't done it again, but he can do it. We now have to be extra cautious. I'm so proud of my boy! Dawson had a good night sleeping last night. He slept from 8:00 p.m. to 1:30, which is HUGE for him. Clinically speaking, sleeping through the night is defined as sleeping for at least one six hour stretch, so he missed it by a half an hour. I pray this continues. He went back to sleep after eating and didn't wake up again until 4:30 which was not bad. I know some kids at this age are sleeping twelve hours straight, I just know after Ashlyn that probably isn't going to be happening with my kids. I just hope this means he is turning a corner with sleeping.

The other big news this week is that Ashlyn now knows ALL of her letter sounds! This is huge because that means she is very close to being able to read. We have these letter cards and if I show her a letter she can tell me what sound it makes. We are still working on her ability to identify each letter, but she definitely knows all of the sounds. She loves for us to quiz her with the cards. We do it about ten times a day. The other night I was showing her how you can put sounds together to form words like d-o-g or c-a-t. She was really getting into that too. I think it's just a matter of time before she is able to read. I can't wait! She is such a smart girl.

Here is the weekly dose of cuteness!
I thought this picture was cute because of the way Dawson was holding his hands.

First time in the Bumbo seat.
Just hanging out. Not sure what he thought of it.

Tummy time

So Katy and I sat Dawson and Ella next to one another on the couch and Dawson put his arm around Ella. We thought it was the cutest thing, even if it wasn't on purpose it still makes for a cute picture!
Best friends

More Bumbo seat time

Ashlyn and Dawson. Dawson has such a funny expression on his face.
I thought this one was cute because they are both tilting their heads the same way.
