A Glimpse of Ashlyn at 4 Years Old

I can't believe that Ashlyn is already four years old.  In one sense it seems that time has flown by, yet it also seems that Ashlyn has always been a part of my life. She brings such joy to Joey and I each and every day.  The girl just resonates happiness and love.  She is such a loving and sweet child.  She is always telling Joey and I how much she loves us.
If I could describe Ashlyn in one word I think it would be spunky.  There is literally never a dull moment when she is around.  She loves to be the center of attention and is quite the entertainer.  She is constantly making us laugh and surprising us will the things she knows. She is a talker and loves to talk to everyone about anything.
Ashlyn has always been a very intelligent little girl.  I think her intelligence becomes more apparent as she gets older.  There is just so much she knows.  One thing that continues to impress us and even freak us out a bit, is her amazing memory.  I have never been around a child with such a good memory.  She can remember things vividly and DESCRIBE them that happened a year and a half ago.  She will recall memories and all of us will look at each other, truly amazed by her ability to recall that.  I don't know what it means that she has such a great memory, but I hope it one day comes in handy in the career she chooses.  Ashlyn continues to learn and grow and get smarter each and every day.  I am having so much fun teaching her new skills/ideas and watching her learn.  Because she has such an amazing memory, I can teach her things one time and she already knows it.  She is by far the best student I have ever had (I'm not biased or anything :)
Another thing that Ashlyn just loves is animals.  She has liked animals since she was a baby.  She loves any show about animals, any game about animals, and any toy about animals.  She loves playing with her horses, plastic animals, etc.  Her favorite had always been horses.  I think that is why she loves My Little Ponies so much.  She often talks about her Papa's horses and loves any chance she gets to ride them.
Ashlyn has an amazing imagination.  That girl loves to pretend all day every day.  All I hear all day is, "pretend I am a baby bird in a nest" or "pretend I am a a hyena in Africa getting ready to go into the jungle".  She comes up with stuff that amazes me.  She pretends in the car, pretends in the bathtub, pretends in the grocery store, etc.  I am glad that she has such a good imagination.  That is one thing I really hoped to foster in my children.  My sister and I were the exact same way.  I keep reading that due to all the technology and high tech toys, children are becoming less and less imaginative and creative.  I hope Ashlyn continues to have such a vivid imagination.
I wanted to write some words about Ashyln so both her and I can one day read this and remember exactly what she was like at four years old.  I could write an entire book about what a unique, caring, and wonderful child she is.  As I have always said, there is not a day that goes by that I don't thank God for blessing me with such an amazing child.  She is such a blessing in all of our lives.  I love you Ashlyn and I am so proud to be your mom!!!!
