Ella and Dawson waiting to go in the museum |
My mom and I have be planning a trip to Denver for several months. We thought that once my sister had Jameson, we would take Dawson, Ashlyn, and Ella up to Denver for a few days. We figured it would allow my sister to just focus on the baby. Well, the fire started and it kind of messed up our plans. We were going to go up Wednesday afternoon, but literally every hotel room from here to Fort Collins was booked. We were able to get rooms for Thursday night so we headed up bright and early Thursday morning. At the last second, my sister decided to come with Jameson. The smoke from the fires was bad and I think at that point we all just wanted to kind of get away from the whole thing.
We started our day by heading to the
Denver Museum of Nature and Science. I absolutely love this museum. I went many times as a child, and we went last fall. It is such a great museum for any age. They have so much to look at it and see. I like that they have lots of animal displays for the kids to look at. They also have a really neat hands on area for kids. The kids had a great time playing and exploring. If I lived closer to Denver I would definitely invest in a pass for the museum. For a family its only $80 for one year! The museum wasn't crowded and there are 3 floors to explore.
We spent the morning at this museum and then we went and met Joey for lunch at
The Hawt for lunch. Joey works very close to the museum so he had lots of great suggestions for places to eat. We really enjoyed The Hawt. They have excellent hot dogs that they wrap in bread. They are almost like a big pig in a blanket. Yum!
After lunch, we headed back to the museum for some more fun. They just opened a new lizard and snake exhibit that we had to check out. Ella and Dawson didn't seem too impressed, but Ashlyn loved it. She loved looking at all the live animals. We wanted to see the dinosaur exhibit, but the babies were getting tired and needed a nap. We dropped Ashlyn of at Joey's work so she could check it out. We went and checked into the hotel room.
We finished our day by going to
Mici for dinner. It was a very casual Italian restaurant that was perfect for us and small children. The pizza was good too! Of course we had to top off a perfect day with a trip to
Yogurtland, which is our very favorite yogurt place ever! We were all very tired by the end of the night. What a perfect day we had!

We chose a hotel near Joey's work so he could stay the night with us and not have to drive far in the morning. I think he enjoyed the short commute! Here are Joey and Dawson relaxing after a long day. |
