A Little Updating

****I wrote this post a few weeks ago, but forgot to post it.  I figure better late than never.

Posts on this blog are going to be few and far between in the coming weeks I'm afraid.  We close on both our old house and our new house next week on the same day.  This is not the way we wanted to do it, but for several reasons it was our only option.  The biggest problem is that we have to have everything out of our old house, but have no where to put it since we don't yet have our new house.  Joey and I are having to get very creative with ideas as to how we will manage all this.  I am so lucky to have amazing family and friends who have offered all sorts of help.  My brother and sister have even graciously offered their garages and homes to let us store some boxes for the week.  My parents have offered for us to stay at their house for a few nights while everything gets settled.  It will probably be one of the craziest weeks of my life, but I know we will get through it!
I am excited about our new house.  I will be posting pictures when we get settled.  Joey and I ultimately chose it for its size.  It's 1,000 more square feet than the home we currently have.  We will now have 5 bedrooms and a seprate office.  We are very excited.  It is not too far from our current home, but it is in a different school district which I like.  We will now be living about 2 minutes away from my sister.  My brother will be much closer too.  There are some cosmetic things we plan to do right away, but I think it's a house we will love for years to come. There are some things I am going to dearly miss about our current home like our huge yard with a view of the Sky Sox, but I am trying to dwell on the new.
I wanted to update about Dawson's two year well-checkup.  I have been so busy packing, I haven't gotten a chance.  He went to his appointment a little after his second birthday because we were waiting on Joey's new insurance to start.  Dawson now weighs 25.6 pounds which is the 19% and is 33 inches tall which is the 14th percentile.  As usual, he is skinny and short.  I am always baffled as to why he is short and keep waiting for him to shoot up.  His appointment went well.  The doctor said he looked great.  We are going to have his speech evaluated because he still not talking very clearly.  He talks a lot, but is still hard to understand.  As a teacher, I see how much speech can impact children.  If there is an issue, I want to make sure we address it sooner rather than later.  Besides that, he is growing perfectly!
On Monday, I went to Ahslyn's conference.  I always love meeting with her teacher and hearing how she is doing.  I am so sad that her time is almost done at her Montessori school.  I honestly can say that we could not have been more pleased with our experience there.  It is an amazing school.  Her teacher is absolutely wonderful.  Ashlyn's teacher had so many wonderful things to say about Ashlyn.  She said that she is more than ready for kindergarten which I already knew.  She said she has just blossomed socially in school.  She said she has made so many friends and is has become a leader in her class.  Her teacher commented on how creative she is and how impressed she is with her art abilities.  She is an artistic little girl.  She commented that she can tell we are great parents and we our doing a wonderful job with Ashlyn.  As a parent, that is the best compliment one can get.  She said Ashlyn is just so happy all the time.  It made me realize how right she is.  Ashlyn is always happy.  She just has such a good disposition.  I honestly could not be more proud of my girl.  She makes me so proud each and every day.
This afternoon we got some amazing news. When we first started looking at houses, I really wanted a house in what is known in town as the best school district.  We looked at a lot of homes in this district.  Since it is such a great school district, houses are very expensive.  Problem was that the houses in our budget were very dated and needed a lot of work.  We just couldn't find anything we liked.  We decided back in early February to fill out a choice application for this district.  We got to pick two schools for Ashlyn to possibly attend.  I of course, aimed really high and picked the best elementary school in the district.  This school gets amazing scores and reviews.  It has been ranked as one of the best in the state.  I knew it probably wasn't going to happen, but I figured why not?  The district takes any available spots and then does a lottery to see who will get those spots to permit in.  They told us they would contact us April 1 and let us know.  Today Joey got an email telling us she got in to my top pick!!!!  I was utterly and totally amazed.  I truly did not think it was even a possibility.  It is going to be such a good opportunity for her.  The best part is we don't have to apply every year even though we are out of district.  She is guaranteed a spot for all of elementary school.  I am already praying that we Dawson in as well.  I truly feel that the Lord had a hand in this and blessed us yet again.
I rambled on a lot, but I had so much to catch up on.  I will be back in the coming weeks with more posts.
