Cheyenne Mountain Zoo

We have been wanting to plan a play date with Ahslyn's good friend from preschool, Isabella.  They just love any chance to spend time together, but we haven't had a whole lot of time to plan something.  Luckily, we were free one Saturday morning before heading to the cabin.  Joey came up with the great idea of meeting them at the zoo so the kids could wear themselves out before our long drive.
Did they ever get some energy out!!!  I think they wore out the parents more than they did themselves.  They had a great time going from animal to animal.  The girls had so much fun together and were already asking when we were leaving when they could see each other again. Ashlyn has made a good friend in Isabella.  Even though they will be heading to different schools this fall, I hope they remain in touch.

Looking at some giraffes

The giraffes are so gentle

Posing with some elephants

Meerkats

Taking a much needed break

Admiring the elephants

What a view!

They added this plane that kids can play in .

We had to stop at the birds

Dawson was more into the birds this time

Such pretty birds!

They had to ride the train.  Isabella's brother likes trains just as much as Dawson does.

Every time we have been to the zoo the tiger is never doing anything.  It always takes a minute to spot him and he is always just laying there.  Not this day!  He put on quite a show for us.  He even jumped in the water and went for a swim.  The kids loved it.

Ashlyn liked this otter

Petting a snake.  She's braver than Mommy!!!

The girls got to prepare a meal for some turtles.

We had to stop at the hippos.  There was a family that was feeding them bread.  Who knew hippos ate bread?

Riding the sky ride.
