Holiday Weekend

We had a great weekend.  Ashlyn had a very big day on Saturday.  She had not one, but two different birthday parties to go to.  They were both for kids in her class.  Luckily, they were at different times so she was able to go to both.  One was for her best friend, Isabella.  They were both at gymnastics places which Ashlyn always has so much fun at.  Joey took her to both parties.  She came home with lots of birthday favors, stories, and was a very tired girl!  She had such a good time.
On Sunday, we woke up to the first snow of the season.  We were all very excited to finally see some snow.  It made it feel more like Christmas.  Dawson and Ashlyn get up very early, so we decided to watch a Christmas movie.  We all cuddled on the couch and watched "Elf".  It was such a nice start to our Sunday.  The boys (Joey and Dawson) headed over to my brother's house to watch some football.  Ashlyn and I did some mother/daughter stuff.  We went down to my grandma's house with my mom.  My grandma taught Ashyln and I how to make fudge and molasses cookies.  We had a great time learning her recipes that have been in our family for years and years.  I hope that one day Ashlyn and I will be able to bake half as well as my grandma.
Ashlyn and I came home and did a few more Christmas crafts.  We worked on some special ornaments for the tree.   We ended the day, by decorating the gingerbread house that Eddie Buddy had brought that morning.  This has become a yearly tradition for us.  Ashlyn always has such a good time decorating.  I love doing it with her.  I think we did our best house yet.

She is such a good helper

Ashlyn insisted that we use every last piece of candy that the kit came with.

We were very happy with the way the gingerbread house turned out this year.
