Father's Day

I have to take the chance to write about what an amazing father Joey is.  My kids are truly the luckiest kids on earth.  They have a father that would do anything for them.   I could write a book listing all of the things he does for them that goes above and beyond what most fathers would do.  He does such a good job taking care of them and is so good with them.  He is truly a special dad.  A couple months ago, Joey was telling me how he had to go back to Ashlyn's school during the day to bring her a cookie.  I asked him why he drove all the way up to her school for a cookie.  He told me that he had forgotten to include it when packing her lunch.  He simply told me that he couldn't stand that thought of her not having the favorite part of her lunch at school that day.  I remember immediately thinking how lucky my kids really are.
He thinks nothing of staying up all hours of the night to make Ashlyn a very special autograph book for Ashlyn to take to Disney World.  Or spending days scouring the internet for the perfect Back to Future gift for Dawson.  Or how he made sure he was there every day to pick up Ashlyn from school so she could play at the park with her friends after school.  He also always remembered to bring a cold bottle of water because she often got thirsty.   Or how he spent an hour learning to fold a dollar bill into a cat so he could "help" the Tooth Fairy. I could literally go on and on with examples of how he would do anything for our kids.  My kids are so blessed to have such an amazing father.  I truly couldn't ask for a better father for my children.
Father's day was a little different this year.  Joey was at the cabin with the kids, so we couldn't do anything special for him in the morning.  They came home that afternoon.  Father's day this year fell on my brother's birthday.  We decided to have a get together at my sister's house to celebrate both.  We picked a meal that all the men would enjoy.  We had a Mexican feast of chicken fajitas, queso, and carne asada.  It was really good.  My brother also got to pick the dessert.  It was a great night of celebrations.
