4th of July Weekend

Our 4th of July weekend was full of fun adventures.  We spent the week prior in Texas with Adam, Jane and the boys.  We drove all day Saturday and returned Saturday night.  We woke up Sunday morning, and headed up to the cabin.  We are certainly a family on the go!
On Monday, Joey and Dawson went fishing with Papa DeLorme.  Dawson was so excited for his turn to go fishing.  They didn't catch anything, but they had a great time.  Joey said Dawson is actually pretty talented at casting.  I think he will definitely have a love for fishing like his Papa DeLorme and his Uncle Steven.

We spent Sunday through Tuesday morning at the cabin.  My dad, sister and her family, and my brother all were up there.  We had a lot of fun hanging out together. We roasted our first S'mores of the season and they were delicious.  Ruby and Magnus had a blast playing together and frolicking in the grass.  Our time up there went by way too quickly.
Ruby's face cracks me up in this picture.

What fun!

We woke up bright and early on the 4th to start the festivities.   We drove down to Buena Vista.  We first went to the pancake breakfast and had a delicious pancake breakfast.  They put on such a nice breakfast and we enjoy it.

After breakfast, we headed over to watch my brother in the Independence Day 5k.  I have ran this race the past two years, but due to school, running has taken a bit of a back burner and I was in no shape to run it this year.  My brother loves this race and was excited to run it.   He ended up coming in third place.  Good job Steven!  After the race, we stayed on Main Street and staked out some good spots to watch the parade from.

I love the parade in Buena Vista.  Since I didn't grow up in a small town, I never got to experience a small town parade.  They are so fun to watch. The kids love collecting all the candy that they throw to during the parade.  They came home with a lot of candy!!!

After the parade, we headed home.  Shortly after getting home and cleaning up and unpacking a bit, we headed over to my parents house.  My mom made a delicious spread of food.  We had hamburgers, all sorts of salads, and desserts.  It was so good.  After eating, we hung out waiting for fireworks.  The kids had a blast playing with water balloons.  The local baseball team puts on a great show, my only complaint is that they never go off until like 10:30.  Half of the kids were asleep by fireworks, but some of us got to see a great show.  It was a great 4th.
