Emersyn at 4 Months

Again, I am getting this posted closer to her turning 5 months, but better late than never.  Our little angel baby is now four months old!  She has changed so much in just four short months.  It seems like lately she now does something new each and every day.  It truly amazes me how their little brains work.
On 4/9 she rolled from her belly to her back.  On 5/10 she rolled from her back to her belly and once she did it that one time, she has been doing it all the time now.  She is a rolling expert.  She is really moving around a lot.  I will put her on the floor on a blanket and she somehow moves across the blanket.  I'm not entirely sure how she makes it happen, but she does.
Emmy had a well check up at four months.  I was able to book her four month appointment at the same time as Gracie's 4 year appointment.  It was so nice to only have to go in once.  The doctor said Emmy looks perfect.  She said she was the most social baby she had seen all month.  She is now 14.7 lbs (48%) and 24.5 inches (47%).  She is in perfect proportion the doctor said. She has more than doubled her birth weight and grown 5 inches in four months!  She is growing like a champ!  She nurses so well and it must be exactly what her body needs because she is growing perfectly!  We ended the appointment with shots for both girls.  I mistakenly told Gracie she didn't have to get any shots, but the doctor talked her into getting her shots done this year.  She went first and was a very brave example for her little sister.  I am glad shots are over for another two months!
Emmy's 4 month sleep regression was absolutely awful. Like I previously blogged about, she was waking up every hour.  Since it has been a while since I have had a young baby and none of my babies have ever slept well, I started doing a ton of research. The general consensus is that she needed to be in her own room.  Joey and I managed to squeeze a crib into the girl's room.  She has been sleeping in there for a few weeks.  The first couple of nights she wasn't loving her crib, but she seems to be accepting it more now.  The key is I have to put her to bed when she is awake.  She usually cries in protest for a minute or two, then she lays there and babbles until she falls asleep.  Her first wake up time varies.  She always goes down around 7:15 or so. She has gone as long as 4:00 a.m., but 2:00 or so seems to be the average for her.  After her first wake up, she usually ends up sleeping with me because I am so tired and don't have it in me to get her back to sleep in the crib.  Hopefully it will come with time. She is getting on a really good nap schedule.  She takes her first nap in the swing in front of the treadmill while I run.  She always wakes up exactly after 30 minutes.  Two hours later, I put her down for another nap which is also only 30 minutes.  Then, two hours later, she takes a solid 2 hour nap.  I have found the better her naps are, the better she sleeps at night.  I pray she continues to do better with her sleeping.
Emmy is seriously the most laid back and easy baby we have had.  I'm not sure if it has anything to do with being the 4th child, but she is so happy and content at all times.  She just sits around and takes everything in.  She is truly just always along for the ride.  She loves to take in new sights and sounds.  She has a frog chair she likes and she will sit in that chair as content as can be for an hour while I cook dinner.  Some of my other children, have been much, much more needy.  It is so nice and helpful frankly to have a child who is less needy.
I just love how content and happy she always is.  She loves other kids so much and smiles so big for all of them.  She loves her siblings so very much and they can not get enough of her.  They all do such a good job of playing with her and talking to her.  She is so sweet with them.
That is a glimpse of what our little lady is up to lately.  She is doll and we love her to death!

Emmy and Gracie.  Emmy has also discovered her feet and loves to play with them.

Playing with those feet again.
