School in the Woods Celebration

Ashlyn's final event at School in the Woods was the end of the year ceremony.  It was held on Tuesday night.  It was held outdoors and a nice little celebration to celebrate the culmination of the year.  The kids came out and sang some songs and they all stood up and shared what they gained from their year at School in the Woods.  It was a short ceremony, but very sweet and a nice celebration.  We all got cake at the end as well.
This year was a challenge for Ashlyn.  It was hard for her to leave all her friends and the only school she has ever known.  She also had to ride the bus for nearly two hours each day.  I think she gained a great deal of independence.  I think she will look back on her experience years down the road and really appreciate it .  I am not quite sure she appreciates the experience yet.  She didn't quite enjoy it the way that we hoped she would.  I do think it was good for her and I think she was better for having gone to School in the Woods.  Anyhow, she made it through the year and absolutely excelled at school and got straight A's all year.  We are proud of her and her bravery and growth she exhibited this year.
