Disney World - Day 4 It's a Jungle Out There!

On Tuesday, we headed to Animal Kingdom.  This is the park that is focused on animals.  Most of the park has an African theme.  It's not one of my favorite parks, but still a great one.  Like all the previous days, we headed to the buses first thing and were some of the first people in the park.

When we got into the park, we immediately headed to the safari ride.  This ride is really pretty neat.  You ride in large Jeep like vehicles and the drive serves as your guide.  There are so many neat animals to see along the way.  None of the animals are fenced, so it truly does feel like a safari.  The kids loved it like usual.

It is so lush and green

A black rhino, which are very rare.

After our safari, we headed over Expedition Everest.  It is one of my favorite Disney Rides.  It is themed around the Yeti and is pretty thrilling.  Ashlyn was not the least bit scared and loved it.  She is so fearless.  We had a fun time taking pictures on the ride.

After some roller coaster fun, we had a Fast Passes for a Dinosaur ride that again, was only for the taller members of our group.  They had a really neat dinosaur area that the little kids had a great time playing at.  It was so nice that they had play areas for little kids who couldn't ride the big thrill rides.

The dinosaur ride is really pretty scary at parts.  I think it was the only ride that Ashlyn got the least bit scared on.
While the kids were playing, they announced that Donald Duck would be coming out.  So, we got to meet him.

So cute

Great picture of the two of them
Animal Kingdom also has a really, really neat dinosaur playground that has all sorts of areas for kids to climb and explore.  It even has an area to "dig" for dinosaur bones.  We had some time to kill after lunch, so they spent some time playing here.

A nice rest break is always a treat!
It was super hot this day.  My brother discovered a water area for the kids to play in.  They had a great time getting soaked and cooling off.

Water!

Feels so good on a hot day!

We had to ride Expedition Everest a few more final times.
Silly girls
I was attempting to blow a kiss, but it didn't turn out very well.
At this point we had a little time to kill.  We had dinner reservations at a nearby resort and it was too early to head there just yet.  It was so incredibly hot and we all needed a little air conditioning break, so we decided to catch the Lion King show.  We have never gone to any of the shows at Animal Kingdom, but they put on quite a production and we all really enjoyed it.

These monkeys were really neat.  They did all sorts of tricks.

This guy played with fire and he did some pretty amazing things with it.

After the show, we headed on a bus to the Animal Kingdom Lodge for dinner.  We had a wonderful dinner last time at a place called Ohana.  The food was so good.  Unfortunately, I couldn't get us in this time.  So, we decided to try a new buffet called Boma.  It is an African restaurant.  The food was very different and good, but I don't know that we would pick it again.

The only way to get back to our hotel was to take a bus to Epcot.  Once we got to Epcot we had to walk through Epcot to the gate that was near our hotel.  It was a ton of walking on our very tired feet.  We seriously must have walked at least 7 miles that day.  I'm actually glad we had to walk through Epcot.  When we entered the park, there was a photographer there that took some really good pictures of all of us.  We got an excellent group shot of all of us.  Everyone but Gracie is looking at the camera.  That's pretty special!
We walked right by the big Epcot ball.  The kids insisted that we ride it since it was their favorite.
