Christmas Day

The kids were up super early on Christmas Day.  We always make them wait until everyone is up to go and look at what Santa brought.  There is always so much excitement in the air and it makes me feel like a kid again.  I love it!!!

Santa was very kind to all the kids this year.  Emmy got a grocery store set, Grace and Ella got Courtney American Girl dolls, Jameson and Dawson got Mario Kart race cars, and Ashlyn got a fancy blow dryer and flat iron.  They all got stocking full of surprises.  They were all very pleased.

After they opened all their Santa gifts, we had breakfast.  The kids were dying to open the rest of their gifts.  After everyone had eaten, it was time to open more presents.

Once the kids finished opening their gifts, they all went to different areas of the house and played with their new stuff while the adults opened their gifts.  Every year since I can remember, my Grandma has gotten my Dad a special Budweiser stein.  Once Bryan and Joey joined the family, she started buying them one too.  It's now a tradition for them to drink a beer out of them once they open them.

Once the adults were done opening gifts, it was time to get cooking and start making Christmas dinner.  We always have turkey, prime rib and all sorts of yummy sides.  We keep it super casual and all eat in our pajamas with the fancy China.  We all were very fully by the time we were done!!!

After we were done, the kids were begging to go home.  We had all of our presents from Joey and I to open at home.  They couldn't wait to see what gifts were waiting for them.  We loaded up the cars and headed home.  We never put any presents under the tree before Christmas because we always seem to have a toddler we can't trust.  The kids were so excited to come home and see all the gifts they had.  Mom and Dad may have gone a little overboard due to Covid and not getting to do much of anything this year.

After they opened, it was time to start moving everything to their rooms.  We were all beat, including Winnie!  I feel so blessed that despite this horrible pandemic, we still got to spend Christmas like normal and with all of our loved ones.  It seems to mean a lot more this year than ever before!
