Our New Girl/Going to get her

I never thought I would want to get a second dog.  With four kids and one dog, we already have our hands full.  Some neighbors of ours have two Boston Terriers and we have always admired them from afar.  They are just so cute and I love their size.  My friend got a Frenchie, and she is just the sweetest dog.  I decided maybe I would want a dog that is a little more lapdog sized.  We did some research and decided that a Boston terrier would be a really good fit for our family.  We love boxers, but Bostons don't have the health problems boxers do, and they live a lot longer.

This summer, Joey talked with our neighbors and asked where they got their dogs from.  They recommended their breeder who lives in Montana.  Joey contacted the breeder and learned that she would be having a new litter around October.  We decided to reserve a girl puppy.  We decided not to tell the kids so we could eventually surprise them.  Our sweet girl was born October 18th.  The craziest part is the mom had eight puppies, and only one was a girl!  Since we were the first on the list, we got our girl.  We were so happy!  The breeder would send us lots of pictures and videos of our girl.  I was so excited to finally meet her!

As luck would have it, our girl was ready to come home right before Christmas.  But, she was all the way in Montana.  Joey looked into the costs of both driving and flying, and decided that flying was the most cost effective.  Since it was so close to Christmas and only certain airlines allow 8 week old puppies, he had to go on quite a trek to get our dog.

We told the kids that he had to go get a document signed for his job, and he had to fly out for the day.  He left around 9:00 a.m. and drove up to DIA.  He flew to Missoula, and met the breeder and got our girl.  They then flew to Seattle.  He said she did great the entire flight and didn't make a peep.  They had a short layover break in Seattle, and then they got on a plane to Denver.  He didn't end up getting to Denver until 10:00 or so.  He sent me lots of pictures and I was so excited to get home the next day to meet her and surprise the kids. It was so hard to not say anything to them.

Another post is coming where about the surprise/meeting of the dog.

On the plane, ready to go.
