Living Museum

In fifth grade, the kids' school does a living museum project.  They each get assigned some historical figure and they research that person and create a poster based on that person.  The day they present, they also dress as that person and act as if they are really the historical figure they researched.  Ashlyn picked Martha Washington.  Amazon saved the day for a costume and she was good to go.  I wasn't able to make it to the presentations because I had to work.  Joey and the girls came by and got to see Ashlyn present.

Dawson's Presentation

Dawson's end of the year second grade project was to research an animal and create a report.  He also had to create an environment for the animal.  He chose a hissing cockroach and learned all sorts of facts about it.  They had a day were parents could come and view there work.

La Veta

Joey's Dad recently got promoted to a sergeant and he now is a state trooper in Walsenburg.  He lives in La Veta when he is working down there.  We had never been to La Veta before, so Joey, Gracie, Emmy and I took a nice little day trip down there one Saturday. (Ashlyn and Dawson opted to stay home with my sister).  I have heard how beautiful La Veta is, but I was truly blown away at how pretty it was.  It is so scenic!  It is an incredibly small town, but such a neat little town.  We went to the small grocery store and got ice cream.  The girls played at the nearby park.  It was a really nice little day trip.

Living Museum

Gracie came home from preschool with the cutest little invitation in the world to a Mother's Day tea.  She was so excited for it and she could not wait for the day to arrive.  I was very excited too to see what surprises she had for me.  They started by performing a few sweet songs for all of the moms.  After their performance, we went back to her classroom for a little brunch. I got to sit next to Gracie and it was just such a special moment for us.  She had even made me a candle holder with her thumbprint.  What a lucky mom I am!

Ashlyn Braces

Ashlyn's dream finally came true: she got braces!  She has been wanting braces for a long time.  We finally decided that she was at a good age to get them.  Her teeth aren't too bad, so they are guessing she will only have to have them for 12 months to a year.  So far she has done pretty well with them.  I can't wait to see what her teeth look like when she is all done.

All done!
