Fourth of July

We always leave Buena Vista right after the parade.  We make the long drive home, shower, then head over to my parent's house for the rest of the 4th.  My sister and my mom had been working all day on decorating and food.  We had an amazing spread of food and my mom always does such a good job with the 4th.
Every year, we take a picture of the kids out front. It is next to impossible to get a good shot with all of them, especially a one year old.

Festive!

For whatever reason, the kids decided it would be fun to hop in the back of my brother's truck

Such a cutie!!!

We lived on the edge this year, and decided to do some fireworks in the driveway.  We only did fireworks that stayed on the ground.  The kids enjoyed them.

The Sky Sox no longer play at the stadium by my parent's house.  The local soccer team was setting off fireworks.  The show went off at dark and we didn't have to wait until 10:00!  It was a nice change and the perfect ending to a great 4th of July!

4th of July Buena Vista

We spent our 4th of July like we have done for the past few years.  We went up to the cabin on the 3rd . We had a great time as usual at the cabin.  The girls couldn't get enough of the swing.

Joey took Ashlyn down to Buena Vista for an ice cream date

Ruby being a wild mountain dog

On the morning of the 4th, we were up bright and early.  I had once again signed up to do the local Buena Vista race.  I do it every year because the money goes to the local cross country team.  Every year I ask myself why I signed up for it.  It's so early and such a chore to get all the kids ready and into town in time.  It is also a very hard course.  It is anything but flat!  While I was getting ready to run the race, Joey took the kids to the pancake breakfast.

After they ate, they headed toward Main Street to watch my cross the finish line.  Definitely not my best time, but I finished!

Here I come.  I love that I can see Gracie waving at me.

So happy to be done!!!!
After the race, we got spots and we waited for the parade to start.  It gets very crowded, so we were happy to get a good spot.

The crowds waiting for the parade

Just waiting

Here they come
As usual, the kids had a blast getting all the candy that was thrown out.  They always end up with A LOT of candy.  It is such a cute small town parade.

We always get a shot of the kids on the tracks

Joey and Ruby hopped in too
Some pictures that loaded out of order:
The girls would swing all day if someone would push them

Love them so much!
