Long Cabin Trip- Poplar Gulch Hike

Since vacations really aren't happening right now, we decided to spend five days at the cabin.  We have done this in years past, but we haven't done it since Emmy was born.  It was really nice getting a break from everything and just spending lots of time together in such a beautiful surrounding.  One morning, we all went for a hike.  We hiked up Poplar Gulch.  It's a pretty easy hike that ends at a waterfall.  It is perfect for the kids to conquer and the scenery at the end is pretty neat!

While we went hiking, Joey went down to Buena Vista to go fishing with his dad for his birthday.

Pool Fun

I have been doing a lot of tutoring this summer.  Joey has been taking the kids to the pool almost every day.  The kids love splashing around and they almost always see a friend from school there.  Gracie and Dawson both got their green bands this summer, which means they can swim anywhere in the pool.  Emmy stays in the shallow end, but she just loves jumping in.  She is a total water baby and gets so excited every time she finds out we are going swimming.  Because of Covid, the pool is only open for two hour sessions through out the day.  The pool is open each night from 5:30-7:30 and we love to go to this session.  The pool is always nearly empty and the weather is just perfect.

4th of July

This 4th of July was a little different because of Covid.  We usually start the day in Buena Vista with me running in a 5k and then having a pancake breakfast.  The kids love the parade and it has become a really nice tradition.  Of course, all of that was cancelled for this year.
My mom had a little get together at her house to celebrate the 4th.  We had a great time hanging out, eating lots of good food, and waiting for the fireworks to start.  This year they shot off fireworks all around the city.  They went off right around 9:00 and from my parent's backyard we could see fireworks everywhere in the sky.  It was probably the neatest firework display we have had on the 4th.  Even though things are different right now, I am glad we still found a way to celebrate.
