Mother's Day

I have to start this post with saying how incredibly blessed I am.  First, I am so blessed to have the mother that I do.  She is such an amazing person.  She is always there for us when we need her.  She is always the person I can talk to when I need some great advice or someone to listen to my frustrations.  I truly could not ask for a better grandmother for my children.  They love their Gram so very much and I love seeing the bond they share with one another.  She does so much for them.  She has been a wonderful role model for what a good mother is.  I can only hope to one day be half as good as a mother that she is.
I am also so blessed to be the mother of such amazing children.  Becoming a mother is hands down the best thing that has ever happened to me.  My children bring me an immeasurable amount of joy and happiness.  They have taught me so much in their short time in my life.  They have taught me what miracles children are and the amount of love you can feel for a child.  They are my pride and joy and my world.  I love them more than anything in the world.
Joey always does an amazing job for Mother's Day.  Ashlyn is at that age where she understands what the day means and loves planning special surprises for me.  I have caught Joey and Ashyln whispering plans many times.  On Sunday morning, Ashlyn came into our room at 5:30.  She quietly woke Joey up and informed him they needed to get started on their surprises.  Joey being the awesome husband he is, got up with both kids.  They then headed to the grocery store and did all the food shopping for the week. ( Can I mention what a nice treat this was?)  Ashlyn came and woke me up at 7:45.  In this house, 7:45 is really sleeping in.  She had a Starbucks drink for me.  She hopped in bed with me and cuddled while I read the card she made me.  She informed me we were going to breakfast next.
After breakfast, we came home and started getting ready for a little Mother's Day gathering we were having at our house.  We were doing a brunch type thing.  I didn't want to cook at all for Mother's Day, so I made all the food the day before.  It was so easy to pop the breakfast casseroles in the oven and just put everything out.  My mom, grandma, brother, sister, brother-in-law, niece, and nephew all came over.  It was nice getting to see my grandma and mom.  My grandma hadn't seen our house yet, so I got to give her a tour.  The food turned out great and we all were quite full from our feast.
After everyone left, I spent some time relaxing on the couch and reading my book.  This is a very rare treat for me in the middle of the day.  My mom came over a little later.  We headed to Home Depot to get some flowers to plant.  We also worked on planting vegetable plants in the backyard.  I am so excited for my vegetable garden!  I have wanted one forever, and our new backyard has perfect planters for it.  When we were done, the flowers looked wonderful and the vegetable garden was beginning.
Early that evening, my mom, sister and I headed out for our last treat of the day.  We decided that we didn't want to have to cook or cleanup a big dinner.  So, we had the great idea of going to the Melting Pot.  I love that place and go any chance I can.  The food was really good as usual.  It was busy and the service left a little to be desired, but overall it was a great experience.  We enjoyed 2 1/2 hours of time with just the girls laughing and talking.  We all left very full after that meal.
As my amazing day ended, I thought again about how blessed I truly am.

Here is the inside of the card Ashlyn made me.  She listed all the things we did that morning.

Joey worked Saturday, so he didn't have time to go out and get my gift.  On the back, Ashyn wrote that I got a Lululemon gift card.  Lulu is my favorite store in the whole world, so I considered that to be the perfect gift.  Joey always does an amazing job picking gifts.

Ella and Dawson going on a Jeep ride.

Ella loves to drive.

How cute are they?  They are obsessed with that Jeep and ask to ride it constantly.

My pretty princess with the flower that she got me for Mother's Day.

Love that face

Our yummy brunch.  The flowers in the middle were another gift for me.  Are Ashyln and Joey amazing or what?
