Halloween

We started Halloween a few days before the actual event, by carving pumpkins.  We were living at my parents waiting on our house to be done, so my dad got to join in on the fun.  As usual, the kids did more observing than carving, but it was still fun.  Ashlyn was determined to carve her pumpkin by herself this year.  She did a pretty good job.

We do the same exact thing every Halloween.  We always start the night with a pumpkin pizza at my sister's house, followed by trick or treating.  We had an absolute gorgeous Halloween this year. The news said it was the nicest Halloween since the 1930s!!!  It was so nice to get to trick or treat without needing to be bundled up.  The kids are not all at an age where the understand trick or treating so they love it!  It was a school night, so we couldn't stay out too late, but the kids still got a ton of candy.  Fun was had by all.

Science Fair at UCCS

On a recent Saturday, we went to a science fair at UCCS.  UCCS is the college Joey and I both attended and where we met.  We went for the first time last year and the kids really enjoyed it.  They were very excited to go back this year.  They do a great job putting on all kinds of different booths and shows involving science.  Ashlyn really likes science, and I want to continue to encourage her to like science since it is such a male dominated field.  We saw two shows this year that were very exciting and entertaining.  The kids loved watching all the science.  The kids also got to make slime and paint some fossils.  It was a fun day and they all learned lots.

The was a magic chemistry class that was so entertaining. It was held where I took Psychology 101.

Such a neat show

The show was almost an hour long and the kids were entranced throughout the entire thing

Diana's Pumpkin Patch

On Friday of the kids four day vacation, we made our way to Canon City to the Pumpkin Patch.  It gets so busy on the weekends, and we knew we could avoid some crowds.  We picked a great day to go and the weather was perfect.  It was so much less crowded then when we usually go on weekends.
The kids wanted to start in the corn maze this year.  We were the only ones in there which was very nice.  I didn't care for the game much this year, but the kids still enjoyed looking for clues.  We discovered that Dawson has a keen sense of direction (he totally gets this from me) and did a good job of leading us through the maze.
After the maze, the kids explored the rest of the pumpkin patch.  They played in the corn, went down the slides, and looked at the animals.  The pumpkin patch was very full this year.  We went on a mission to find the biggest pumpkins we could find.  We found some big ones!  This could get interesting when it comes time to carve the pumpkins.  All in all, it was a great fall day full of fun.

Taller every year

He grew a lot too

We tried to get our yearly shot of the kids, but Gracie was not having it and refused to get in the picture

Joey did his yearly throwing the kids in the air picture.  This may be Ashlyn's last year, as she is getting very big to be thrown.

She didn't get much air

Gracie got a lot of air, and did not enjoy it at all
