Trip to Tincup

Towards the end of this summer, Ashlyn, Dawson, my dad, and I all spent the weekend at the cabin.  Joey and Gracie stayed home so he could get stuff done around the house for our big move.  Since we had just the older kids, my dad and I decided it would be the perfect weekend for a really long ride to Tin Cup.  The kids and I had only been to the top of Tincup Pass before.  We were so surprised to see there is a beautiful lake, Mirror Lake and the town of Tincup that lies beyond the Tin Cup Pass.  We made a lot of stops along the way to check out the amazing mountain scenery.
At one point, my dad abruptly stopped.  He pointed to what I thought was rock, very, very far away and said he thought it was moose.  I thought he was totally seeing things, until we got closer and sure enough, it was a huge bull moose just laying there.  We kept a safe distance, but it was really neat to see.
The town of Tincup was really neat and I wish we would have had more time to explore it and see all the history it has.  There is even a restaurant there that we vow to eat at next year.  It was a great day for a long ride.

Such gorgeous views

The moose my dad saw from the distance.  It is so hard to see, but it is lying under the two little trees in the middle.

This is a very old town hall where the still hold church services at on Sunday mornings.

Love the historical buildings

Ashlyn took this picture of her dolls in front of the town hall
Katy and her kids drove up later that afternoon.  The weather was incredible, so the kids put their bathing suits on and we headed down to the river.  They played for hours in the water.

Water time

It is like a giant sandbox/water table with the most incredible views ever

This mama and her three babies came by a lot in the evenings this summer.  They really liked our yard.  We really enjoyed watching them each night.  I just love nature.
