Halloween

I apologize for not posting last week. This new job is a lot more demanding than I anticipated. It is taking up so much of my time. I am trying to enjoy every minute I get to see Ashlyn, so blogging was not a priority last week. I am going to try to do it every week still.

Ashlyn had a WONDERFUL first Halloween. This week we baked cupcakes and even carved a pumpkin. She was not into the pumpkin too much. I gave her some of the "guts" to play with, but she was not all that entertained about them. She did like the finished pumpkin.

On Friday, I left school right when the bell rang. I met my Mom and Ashlyn at my house. We grabbed her costume and headed for Walmart. We picked up Ashlyn's Auntie on the way. We started at Walmart at 4:00 pm. She really liked Trick or Treating at Walmart. They had different candy stations all throughout the store. She loved holding her treat basket. She wanted to eat the candy. After Walmart, we headed to Joey's work. We brought her inside so we could show her off to all of his coworkers. They just thought she was the cutest thing. We stopped at my sister's house and had a quick dinner. We then went Trick or Treating around Katy's neighborhood. She lives in a great neighborhood. Most of the houses were decorated and had went all out. Ashlyn got lots of goodies. Next, we went to an Assisted Living Community for their Halloween festivities. They had cupcakes and little bags of candy for the kids. There were lots of really nice people there. There were a few other babies there. There was one boy a little older than Ashlyn dressed like an ape. He walked over to her and gave her a hug. He then grabbed her nose. It was too cute. I wish we would've had the camera with us. By this point Ashlyn was beat! She then went home and went to bed. We thought her first Halloween was a success!!!

Too cute!!!

She loved holding her basket. She was not about to let it go!

She made the cutest kitty in the world!

Fall is here

Sorry I did not blog last weekend. I went to Vegas last week for a wedding. Ashlyn's Grandparents volunteered to watch her in Buena Vista. She was gone Saturday through Friday. I missed her very, very much! From what I heard she had a great time with her Grandparents. They bought her this huge fake horse named Butterscotch. Butterscotch is the coolest because Ashlyn thinks she is a real horse. She moves when you pet her, opens her mouth, etc. She is really neat!

Yesterday the weather was beautiful! The weather was in the 70's. Joey and I decided to do something as a family. We drove to Monument and went to a pumpkin patch. It was a little smaller than I had imagined, but we still had a great time. Adults get in free and Ashlyn was free because she was under 2. What a great deal! We went down a huge slide, sat on a tractor, and played in hay. Ashlyn had a great time.

Ashlyn continues to walk like crazy. She is getting so good at it. She hardly crawls at all. I am going to attempt to post a video after I post this. I may finally have the video thing figured out!
Well that is all for now. Tomorrow I start my first week of teaching, so I have lots to do today.

Guess who???

Guess who is now officially walking? Ashlyn is!!!! We are so excited about this new development. I posted on Monday night, and talked about how Ashlyn was so close. We had been practicing with my Mom that night. At most she could only do 5-6 steps without falling. Well, on Tuesday morning, we wake up and she is walking like crazy! It literally happened overnight. She finally got up the nerve to take the plunge and walk. The night before she would only walk from piece of furniture to furniture. Tuesday, she walked from the dining room to the living room. She still crawls some, but really is walking a lot. It is just the cutest thing in the world. Again, I am going to try to post some video so everyone can see. Watching your child do new things never ceases to amaze and delight me!

11 Months Old

Today Ashlyn turned 11 months old. I can't believe that in just one short month she will be a year old. She will no longer be a baby really. She will always be my baby! Ashlyn continues to do new things everyday. She is really changing all of the time.

She continues to practice walking. I really thought she would be full on walking by now. She totally could walk if she wanted to. She now just barely holds onto the walls when she wants to get around. She can move so fast. She can take a lot of steps at a time. She just does not have the desire to really walk yet. I know that it will come soon. I hope she is walking by Halloween. We practice everyday. I recorded a video of her walking tonight. I am hoping that when Joey gets home, he can show me how to post it.

Ashlyn is talking up a storm. Most of the time we can't really make out what she is trying to tell us, but she thinks we can. She still says "Mom" and "Dad" all of the time. She has started to say "that" (although is sounds more like "dat"). We are practicing on teaching her "cat" and "dog".

Ashlyn still waves all of the time. When we are out, she is constantly waving at everyone. She has also learned how to high five. It is really cute. She is becoming more and more interested in her toys. She has a great time playing with her toys. She seems to like dolls a lot.

Ashlyn continues to amaze us everyday with what she can do. She also brightens each and everyday with her beautiful smile and contagious laugh. It is such a wonderful experience to see her experience everything for the first time. She is such an amazing little girl! Below, are a several pictures I took of Ashlyn on her 11 month birthday.

The sun makes it hard to see in this picture, but it is a great action shot of Ashlyn walking.

Reading her favorite books before bedtime.

She really, really likes books.

She was not too sure about this pose.

Standing up

She was having so much fun walking.

Walking is fun!

Oops, that one got on here twice!
