Spring Spree 5k

On June 14, I ran the Springs Spree 5k.  I chose to do this race because it was one Chick Fil A sponsored me to do, and I'm trying to do as many races as I can.  Its awesome getting to do races for free!  This race was at a local park around a lake.  I have ran a race here before, but not this particular one.  This race was for Cerebral Palsy and was for a great cause.  The race didn't start until 9:00 a.m. which I feel is a little late for a summer race.  It was very, very hot by start time.  I had no goals for this race, and once the gun went off I felt pretty strong.  I immediately passed all the women in front of me except for one.  We had to run around the lake twice and I was feeling strong.  I remained in 2nd place for the first 2 1/2 miles.  The end was tough and involved a hill and I got passed.  I totally need to incorporate more hills into my training again!  I ended up getting 3rd place.  I was happy with my performance and glad I decided to do this race.  My brother ran it as well, and also got 3rd place.  It was a good day for both of us.  I know I won't place in my upcoming races, but I hope to feel as strong as I did that day.

Of course my babies were there to cheer me on

My brother getting his award.  We both oddly got umbrellas among other things.  They are nice umbrellas.

My first time on the podium.
